La Famiglia

Francesco Sobrero, father of the current owners, Settimo and Pierfranco, established the Azienda Vitivinicola Sobrero in 1940. It is located in Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Barolo, a commune renown for exceptional cultivation of Nebbiolo vines. It was on these hills where Francesco dedicated a life of work, passion and sacrifice to his vineyards, producing the prestigious wines that can only be obtained from unique combination of soil and climate. Francesco Sobrero has left behind a rich heritage of viniculture and winemaking. Today, Francesco’s grandson, Flavio, carries on the family tradition for producing exceptional wines from the most fertile vineyards in the Langhe.

The family’s Azienda is located in the commune of Castiglione Falletto with its majestic castle perched high on the hilltop. Nearby villages include Barolo, La Morra, Serralunga, and Grinzane. On these steep hillside slopes that are among the most fertile in the Langhe, rows of Nebbiolo vines still thrive in the family Pernanno vineyard planted in 1946.

Featured Wine

Sobrero Barolo Pernanno Riserva DOCG - The Pernanno vineyards produce some of the finest Nebbiolo in the commune. These vines were planted in 1946 facing south-southwest. 2010 was a fantastic vintage for Commune Castiglione Falletto and especially this grand Barolo. Make no mistake; this is a big wine. It lands firmly on the palate with big fruit, a dense velvety mouth feel, and a long finish.
