Igor Erzetic’s winery is named after his father, Branko. Its roots run deep in the hills of the village of Zegla, just a few kilometers from the medieval village of Cormòns and the Slovenian border. This is the district known as the Collio—world renown for great white wines. The mild climate of this area is influenced by the Julian Alps to the north and the Adriatic to the south. The marl and sandstone soils and mild climates allow the fruit to develop and retain intense aromas and flavors that are imparted to these native varietal wines.
Igor is the first in the family to be formally educated in enology. Their family winery and vineyards cover six hectares that are nearly exclusively planted in white varietals. Igor has trained the vines to both the traditional double arched trellis and the French Guyot system.
