The Petracci Family winery, Madonnabruna, is a story of three generations. The winery and agriturismo are located only a few miles from the seaside town of Porto San Giorgio, in the Marche region. Paolo Petracci planted the first vineyards on the family hillside property that was acquired by his father, Ferruccio Petracci, in 1967; and, in 2002 the family realized Feruccio’s dream and produced their first wine vintage from the newly constructed winery.
Today Paolo and his son, Carlo, carry on the family legacy on their 13-hectare estate, and produce wines of exquisite quality and complexity. The warm days and the cool nights provided by the coastal climate, along with the soils rich in clay, make their hillside estate vineyards at 400-1000 feet above sea level perfectly suited for the native Italian varietals Pecorino and Passerina. Paolo, who was educated in agriculture, manages the vineyards, while Carlo, who was university educated in oenology, is responsible for all aspects of wine production in the cantina. They embrace a philosophy of naturally maintaining the delicate balance of healthy soils and vines to consistently produce high quality fruit. Paolo and Carlo are steeped in their heritage and traditions of land and family.
