Colle Ciocco is the hill that gives the Spacchetti Family Cantina its name. It is surrounded by mountains and the historic hilltop Umbrian villages of Montefalco, Spello, Assisi, Perugia and Spoleto. In 1870, Grandfather Settimio Spacchetti, along with his brothers, began cultivating the native varieties of Sagrantino, Trebbiano Spoletino, and Grechetto, and mastering their art of winemaking. The winery is located about 800 meters outside the historic walls of Montefalco, 400 meters above sea level, with panoramic views of the Umbrian countryside. It covers 20 hectares, 12 hectares of our native grapes and 8 hectares of century old olive trees.
Settimio’s vision and art have been preserved and handed down through generations in the Spacchetti Family. Today his grandchildren carry on the history and traditions of creating brilliant Montefalco wines. The Spacchetti Family legacy, along with two other original family producers, can be found in the historical archive of Montefalco Municipality.
