2004 Poggio Apricale Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG

  • Luca Brunelli only produces “Riserva” from the best vintages, and 2004 was considered an outstanding year for Brunello’s. Luca hand selects the fruit to go into his reserve wines and the grapes are handpicked. Following a cold maceration, fermentation, and malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged 42 months in Slovenian botti and French barriques and an additional 8 months in the bottle prior to release. This wine delivers a bright, deep ruby red color in the glass. Complex and intense aromas of cherry, raspberry, licorice and balsam are on the nose. This full-bodied red delivers well-balanced tannins and acidity with a long finish of ripe fruit and spices. Enjoy this Brunello with ripe cheeses, grilled red meats, game, and pork. You can also enjoy it all by itself as a meditation wine. Best served at 65 degrees F in a large format glass. Only 10 cases imported.
