2010 Poggio Apricale Brunello di Montalcino DOCG

  • 2010 has been heralded as one of the best vintages for Brunello di Montalcino in years.  The district enjoyed a near perfect growing season allowing for the long maturation of the fruit. Once again, Luca has crafted a classic Brunello style with 100% estate grown Sangiovese grapes. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged 36 months in Slavonian oak botte and French oak barriques. The wine shows bright intensity with bright red ruby and garnet hues in the glass, aromas of cherry, raspberry, plum, tobacco and spices on the nose, then lands on the palate with generous fruit notes including black cherry and red fruits. The tannins and acidity are well-balanced and provide for a long fruit finish. Enjoy with grilled red meats, game and aged cheeses. Best served at 65 degrees. Only 20 cases imported. Best enjoyed 2017-2030.
